Problem
http://jobs.syracuse.com/
The current job board is lacking in a few areas, ultimately making this site unhelpful. Many of the links are going to spam, headhunters, or other job recruiting websites. I am unable to filter by pay, hours, schedule, etc… I can’t see what is newly posted or what is our dated or filled.
Solution
Provide a singular website for job postings with dedicated moderation to ensure the site leads to employment.
Impact
Increased Trust: Verified listings and integrated support resources boost confidence in using the platform.
Boosted Local Employment: A streamlined, user-friendly site encourages more job seekers to engage with local opportunities.
Positive Community Perception: Demonstrates proactive steps by local government to support economic growth and reduce unemployment.
Better user experience
Acceptance Criteria
• Filtering Improvements: Implement at least five advanced filtering options by job type, experience level, salary, date posted, and location.
• Interface Redesign: Launch a simplified, mobile-optimized user interface within two months.
• One Stop Shop approach: I want to see all the details spelled out on one page. I don’t want to go to different sites. Have the relevant information on the jobs board, the pay rate, the hiring manager contact information, etc…
• Local only: I can filter to only allow posts by local businesses
• Moderation: ensure posts for jobs are still available, close any outdated listing, remove spam
